ISMPP Announces New Vision and Mission to Guide Society Into the Future
As announced at the conclusion of this year’s 10th Annual Meeting, Leading Through Collaboration, ISMPP’s Board of Trustees has approved a new Vision and Mission statement for the Society. While maintaining many of the previous core elements, the updated statements highlight:
a
-
The desire to become truly “global” by increasing and expanding efforts to educate on good publication practices in all regions of the world beyond the US and Europe
-
The importance of “effective” publication of medical research (ie, publications should be appropriate, timely, disseminated to appropriate readers, well written, clear and clinically relevant)
-
That our bigger goal as a profession is to publish data “to help better inform treatment decisions”
According to Al Weigel, ISMPP President and COO, “ISMPP’s new vision and mission are in keeping with the current medical publications landscape, which has become more globalized, transparent, and patient-centric since ISMPP’s inception. This is an important step forward for the Society as we enter into our 10th year and look to more closely collaborate with like-minded organizations in support of ethical and effective publication of medical research.”
Additional information on the new Vision and Mission statements is available by viewing Al Weigel’s closing slide presentation and Interactive News Network (INN) interview.
