Medical Publishing Insights & Practices (MPIP)

About

Medical Publishing Insights & Practices (MPIP) was founded in 2008, by members of the pharmaceutical industry and the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) to elevate trust, transparency, and integrity in reporting the results of industry-sponsored research. Current corporate co-sponsors include Amgen, Bayer, Biogen, Bristol-Myers Squibb, GlaxoSmithKline, Janssen Research & Development LLC, Merck, and Pfizer.

MPIP has encouraged more effective partnership between sponsors and journals to raise standards in medical publications and expand access to research results. Editors of worldwide biomedical journals have participated in MPIP activities, including representatives of Annals of Internal Medicine, Blood, BMJ, Canadian Medical Association Journal, European Respiratory Journal, Journal of the American Medical Association, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Nature Medicine, Neurology, The New England Journal of Medicine, and The Lancet.

In January 2021, ISMPP assumed the organizational leadership of MPIP, in a cooperative transfer of organization responsibilities, conducted in alignment with MPIP leadership and MPIP co-sponsors.
