Brief Bio:
Rafal Swierzewski has been involved in patient advocacy for ten years as both a scientist and cancer survivor. He earned his PhD in 2006 by examining the physical and chemical properties of model macromolecules (incl. new chemotherapy compounds) in cellular environment. From 2013 to 2016 he served as Board Member of the European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC). From 2013 he represents ECPC in patients' and Consumers' Working Party within the European Medicines Agency (EMA). Through the EMA, he is involved in various projects, such as Adaptive Pathways, IMI-ADVANCE (member of Scientific Advisory Board) and IMI-WEBRADR, IMI-PREFER. Rafal also represents patients' interests in the European Unions clinical trial portal and database of stakeholder groups created within the EMA to construct new systems for implementing European regulations on clinical trials and clinical data. Recently Rafal has been appointed as a member of Technical Anonymization Group (TAG) created by the EMA to continue the work undertaken during the development and finalisation of the external guidance on the anonymization of clinical reports for publication.
