Bio: Michelle Kissner is an accomplished innovator and leader in the field of medical publications. As Director in Publications Management at Pfizer, Michelle has served on the Publications Management Team and is currently responsible for managing multiple publication agency partners and overseeing operational aspects of cross-functional publication teams in inflammation, & immunology, cardiovascular disease and diabetes to ensure successful development and implementation of comprehensive and scientifically rigorous publication plans pre-, peri- and post-launch. She ensures compliance with good publication practices, ICMJE guidelines and company policies. Previously, she has overseen publication plans and operations in oncology, rare disease, and CNS. She is the co-chair of the ISMPP Social Media Web Based Metrics Working group and has analyzed publication impact through multiple alternative metric analyses. Furthermore, she has presented various topic related posters at ISMPP and DIA and is a published author. She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy and has considerable experience in many aspects of management of publications, medical communications and medical information. She has established successful, long-term relationships with multiple publishers and is responsible for overseeing these collaborations across Pfizer. Finally, she has achieved a continuous improvement yellow belt (Six Sigma Recipient) for designing and implementing a new database for automated literature searches resulting in cost savings and released capacity.

Bio: Jamie L. Kistler, PhD, is a Scientific Strategy Advisor for PAREXEL Medical Communications. Jamie has nearly 20 years of combined academic and medical communications experience. She received a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Pathobiology from Wake Forest University and subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA before starting a career in the medical communications industry. Jamie has enjoyed partnering with clients in the biopharmaceutical and device industries for the past 12 years. In her current role, she is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, development, and execution of many different medical communications programs and tactics, including scientific communication platforms, live and virtual advisory meetings, educational symposia, and comprehensive global communication plans. Her therapeutic area expertise includes oncology and supportive cancer care, hematology, pediatric infectious disease, and cardiovascular and metabolic conditions.

Bio: Paul conducted his Doctoral research into the physiological roles of nitric oxide at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. After serving on the faculty at Weill, Paul worked as a freelance consultant specializing in start-up grants for biotechnology companies, before transitioning full-time to medical publications. He has been a publications professional for over 10 years and has worked on programs spanning all stages of drug development in a variety of therapeutic areas. Until recently, Paul was responsible for Digital and Social Media strategy at Envision Pharma Group, but has now moved on to run publication programs for various rare diseases at Biomarin. The shift from print to web-based publications has been an area of interest since Paul authored a review in one of the first online journals (Science:STKE) in 2001. Much has changed since then, with journals and congresses now offering a plethora of enhancements and the rise of social media as a channel for information dissemination. These additions not only change the way in which medical information is consumed, but also the methods we use to assess the impact of a publication.
