This Platform provides regular, topical, and easily accessible educational opportunities for ISMPP members. Programs are directed towards all levels of medical publications and publication planning. Programs focus on practical issues that help further hone skills in professional medical publication planning for long-term professional advancement and success.

Included are the Annual Program, Asia Pacific Programme, European Programme, ISMPP West Program, Global Workshop, and ISMPP U Committees.

Annual Meeting Program Committee

This Committee works to develop the Annual Meeting curriculum with distinguished presenters who engage, enlighten, and stimulate ISMPP members on the topics that impact ethical and effective communication of medical research. Their programs endeavor to provide education for both entry-level and seasoned professionals, as well as inform the current environment within medical affairs, with a particular focus on medical publications.

Proposed Remits for 2022-2023:

  • Development and implementation of the Annual Meeting (April 24-26, 2023)

  • Review evaluations from previous meetings to inform planning activities

  • Develop meeting content for a range of professional experience levels and types

  • Assist in informing ISMPP educational content initiatives (e.g., ISMPP West, European Meeting, ISMPP U Webinars)

  • Communication of Committee activities to society and other Committees via minutes/summary to be uploaded to the Committee Center

Asia-Pacific Meeting Program Committee

This Committee works to develop the Asia Pacific meeting curriculum with distinguished presenters who engage, enlighten, and stimulate ISMPP members on the topics that impact ethical and effective communication of medical research within the region. Their programs endeavor to provide education for both entry-level and seasoned professionals, as well as inform the current environment within medical affairs, with a focus on medical publications.

Proposed Remits for 2022-2023:

  • Development and implementation of the bi-annual Asia Pacific Meeting (to be held virtually in September 2022); future dates proposed

  • Review evaluations from previous meetings to inform planning activities

  • Develop meeting content for a range of professional experience levels and types

  • Assist in informing ISMPP educational content initiatives (e.g., ISMPP West, European Meeting, ISMPP U Webinars)

  • Communication of Committee activities to society and other Committees via minutes/summary to be uploaded to the Committee Center

The APAC is not included in the Annual Volunteer Drive.

European Meeting Programme Committee

The European Programme Committee works to develop the European Meeting curriculum with distinguished presenters who engage, enlighten, and stimulate ISMPP members on the topics that affect ethical and effective communication of medical research within the region. Their programs endeavor to provide education for both entry-level and seasoned professionals, as well as inform the current environment within medical affairs, with a particular focus on medical publications.

Proposed Remits for 2022-2023:

  • Develop the European Meeting of ISMPP (January 24-25, 2023, London)
  • Review evaluations from previous meetings to inform planning activities
  • Include recommendations from the ISMPP Board European Trustee as appropriate
  • Assist in informing ISMPP educational content initiatives (e.g., Annual Meeting, ISMPP West, ISMPP U Webinars)
  • Communicate Committee activities to society and other Committees via minutes/summary to be uploaded to the Committee Center

ISMPP Fall Program Committee

This Committee works to develop the ISMPP West curriculum with distinguished presenters who engage, enlighten, and stimulate ISMPP members on the topics that impact ethical and effective communication of medical research. Their programs endeavor to provide education for both entry-level and seasoned professionals, as well as inform the current environment within medical affairs, with a particular focus on medical publications in the biotechnology sector.

Proposed Remits for 2022-2023:

  • Development and implementation of the ISMPP Fall Meeting September 26-27, 2022; Irvine, CA)

  • Review evaluations from past ISMPP West meetings as well as the most current Annual meeting to inform planning activities

  • Provide more meeting content to retain senior level professionals, and attract journal editors/publishers

  • Assist in informing ISMPP educational content initiatives (e.g., Annual Meeting, European Meeting, ISMPP U Webinars)

  • Communication of Committee activities to society and other Committees via minutes/summary to be uploaded to the Committee Center

Global Workshop Committee

This Committee will assist with the development of practical, strategic, and tactical workshops for the membership that will be offered both at the Annual Meeting and other dates during the year.

Proposed Remits for 2022-2023:

  • Determine appropriate workshops to present at the Annual Meeting and ISMPP West meeting

  • Update existing workshops to ensure they are current/accurate

  • Review evaluations from previous workshops to inform planning activities

  • Develop new or update existing workshops for specific emergent membership sectors (e.g., academics, journal editors/publishers, HEOR groups, CROs, members from other geographic regions, and other sectors of interest) and topics (e.g., patient-reported outcomes, epidemiologic research, diagnostics/medical devices, vaccines, and consumer health), in collaboration with other relevant committees

  • Communicate Committee activities to society and other Committees via minutes/summary to be uploaded to the Committee Center

ISMPP U Committee

This Committee is responsible for the planning and delivery of ISMPP U web-based seminars.

Proposed Remits for 2022-2023:

  • Develop monthly ISMPP U Webinars for the membership; ideally to work towards developing an annual plan of topic ideas

  • Work with ISMPP staff on a special webinar open to the public to increase awareness of ISMPP (January timeframe)

  • Develop ISMPP U Webinars that would appeal to specific membership sectors (e.g., academics, journal editors/publishers, members from other geographic regions, HEOR groups, CROs, and other sectors of interest), and topics (e.g., patient-reported outcomes, open access, epidemiologic research, diagnostics/medical devices, vaccines, consumer health, lay summaries) in collaboration with other relevant committees

  • Assist in informing ISMPP educational content initiatives (e.g., Annual, ISMPP West and European Meetings)

  • Communicate Committee activities to society and other Committees via minutes/summary to be uploaded to the Committee Center
