Key ISMPP Benefits for Our Members

Key distinguishing features and benefits of ISMPP

ISMPP – The Only Not-For-Profit Organization

ISMPP is the only not-for-profit professional organization dedicated to supporting medical publication professionals. ISMPP operates as a 501(c)(6) organization under a carefully drafted constitution, registered in the State of New Jersey and recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as such.  Our not-for-profit status distinguishes us from all other groups, ensuring that all income realized is filtered back into the membership, as well as used to further the profession.  This was “mission-critical” for all of ISMPP’s founders.

You – The ISMPP Members

ISMPP now has more than 700 members, representing all sectors of medical publishing from the biotech and pharmaceutical industries, journal publishers and editors, agencies and service providers, and other allied professionals and organizations.  We are truly international, with members from around the world.  Our membership is our strength, and our committees are run by dedicated volunteers.

The ISMPP Annual Meeting

The ISMPP Annual Meeting immediately became the largest and highest quality meeting dedicated to our profession. The April 2008 meeting attracted over 400 attendees from more than 140 organizations; 32 exhibits and 10 sponsors were involved, reinforcing the position of ISMPP's conference as your profession's most important annual event. We have had internationally renowned speakers from academia, industry, government regulatory agencies, and several of the top ICMJE members participate at ISMPP—and we address the controversial issues facing our profession! ISMPP offers plenary sessions, debates, workshops, and podium and poster presentations of peer-reviewed abstracts submitted by members. Thanks to our not-for-profit status and many volunteers, we continue to offer this event at less than $1200 per delegate.

Coming soon...

In support of this mission and our long-term growth, ISMPP is currently investing in two major projects, which again emphasize our unique leadership position within the profession.

Certification

ISMPP is committed to developing a certification program to increase the knowledge base, skill set, and influence of our profession.  This program will be in place in the next 12 to 18 months.

Journal

Communication is a critical component to our organization.  ISMPP is currently exploring the establishment of a publication medium to expand the reach of our collective voice, provide a sounding board for the ISMPP leadership, and create an avenue for you to share your research, best practices and opinions on topics affecting the industries we represent as well as our profession.
