Medical Publishing Insights and Practices (MPIP) Initiative
About MPIP
The Medical Publishing Insights and Practices (MPIP) initiative was founded in 2008 by members of the pharmaceutical industry and the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP). Current corporate co-sponsors include Amgen, AstraZeneca, Bristol-Myers Squibb, GlaxoSmithKline, Janssen Research & Development LLC, Merck, Pfizer and Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America. MPIP receives logistical support from Leerink Swann Consulting LLC, a life sciences strategy consulting firm.
MPIP’s vision is to develop a culture of mutual respect, understanding and trust between journals and pharma that will support more transparent and effective dissemination of results from industry-sponsored trials. To achieve that vision, MPIP’s goals are to:
- Understand issues and challenges in publishing industry-sponsored research
- Identify potential solutions to increase transparency and trust
- Promote more effective partnership between sponsors and journals to raise standards in medical publishing and expand access to research results.
