Martin Delahunty

Bio: Martin Delahunty is Director and Owner of Inspiring STEM, an independent science communications agency and consultancy supporting institutional clients focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. For over 25 years, he has held senior global roles with science publishers, most recently as Global Director with Springer Nature where he designed and launched the Nature Partner Journals. He is past ISMPP Secretary and remains an enthusiastic supporter and regular presenter. Martin has responsibility across five global office locations to develop Nature Partner Journals (NPJs), a new series of online-only, open access journals, published in collaboration with world-renowned partners. Martin has a Degree in Natural Sciences from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland and a Masters in Business Administration from The Open University. He is also Secretary and Trustee for the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals.

Beatrix Dorr

Clinical Research Consultant

Bio: Beatrix originally trained as a veterinarian. She subsequently moved into clinical research where she held increasingly senior positions at leading institutions across Europe. Her focus was on the successful development of transcatheter heart valves. A love of medical writing, training and an interest in medical devices led Beatrix in 2011 to start her own consultancy. She can successfully navigate the new regulatory guidelines and offers real expertise across some of the more complex device areas. Since 2015, she is a member of EMWA's executive committee and recently became a member of the Medical Device Special Interest Group. In 2011 Beatrix established her own company, CORIUVAR consulting, which focuses on clinical research consulting and medical writing for medical devices. More recently, Beatrix was elected as an executive committee member of EMWA and took up the role of public relations officer. Among her many responsibilities, Beatrix and her team look after social media, promotion and advertisement, cross-functional relationships and the Internship Forum for new writers.

Paul Farrow

Bio: Paul Farrow is a Communications Director at Oxford PharmaGenesis, an independent HealthScience communications consultancy. With over 12 years of experience in medical communications, Paul has worked on the full range of activities in multiple therapy areas. He has expertise in strategic publication planning and leads the Publication Ethics, Planning and Research Group at Oxford PharmaGenesis. He provided input into the GPP3 guidelines and for 3 years worked as contract Global Publications Lead for a major pharmaceutical company. Paul is a longstanding member of ISMPP and became a Certified Medical Publication Professional in 2012. He is also member of the European Program Committee for the 2018 European meeting of ISMPP. Paul also lectures on medical communications and good publication practice at the University of Oxford, UK. Before joining Oxford PharmaGenesis, Paul completed BSc and MSc degrees at the University of Birmingham, UK, and then trained for a DPhil in Molecular Medicine in the Department of Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Oxford, UK.

Bio: With 20 years scientific communication experience in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, Anna-Lisa has worked with many pharma companies on both country and global accounts implementing Datavision and providing expertise in change and project management ensuring successful adoption of software. Anna-Lisa is part of the Technology Solution Team at Envision Pharma Group where she is responsible for supporting her clients in the effective and efficient use of technology solutions to meet their business needs. Previously she was Director, Publications Management Team at Pfizer responsible for the direct operational management and monitoring of regional and global publication programmes. She also spent a period of time as a freelance consultant specialising in publication strategy, planning and management; developing and implementing publication policies, standard operating procedures and training; developing and implementing processes to enable CIA compliance; providing training in publication best practice, technologies and standards (GPP, ICMJE, CONSORT). Anna-Lisa has served as a member of the European Program Committee since 2012 and is currently a member of the ISMPP Board of trustees serving as the European Trustee. The communication of science in all its forms has been the underlying passion that has driven her career. Anna-Lisa has had a varied career including: management of a science communication department; science website development; overseeing independent research grants; setting up multinational clinical research collaborations; information services; scientific advisor; and teaching medical students. Anna-Lisa received a BA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University, UK and studied for a DPhil in Neuroscience at the Experimental Psychology Department, Oxford University, UK.

Julie Ford

Bio: Julie Ford is currently the Head of Medical Information and Scientific Communication for Novartis Pharmaceuticals Global Medical Affairs, based in Basel, Switzerland. Julie has worked at Novartis for more than 21 years, holding several clinical research and field medical roles in the UK affiliate, in addition to gaining extensive experience in medical affairs and scientific communication at the Swiss headquarters. Prior to joining Novartis, Julie worked for 10 years as a biomedical scientist in the UK National Health Service and in academic research at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, publishing multiple times in the field of liver histopathology. Julie enjoys time away from work with her family, as well as trying to improve baking skills, skiing, hiking in the mountains and jogging.

Simon Foucler

Bio: Danielle is Head of Publications at Costello Medical, a consultancy that provides scientific support to the healthcare sector in the analysis, interpretation and communication of clinical and health economic data. Danielle started her career in medical communications after graduating from the University of Cambridge with a degree in Natural Sciences. She developed her writing and project management skills at the specialist healthcare publishing company MGP Ltd, through work on a variety of educational projects for healthcare professionals including working party guidelines and eLearning materials. Since joining Costello Medical, Danielle has managed and delivered global publications plans, manuscripts and congress publications across a range of disease areas. She is a member of ISMPP and has submitted her own research to the European meeting since 2015. Danielle is now responsible for managing the Publications Division at Costello, which involves overseeing all the ongoing publications work, continually improving processes and developing the team. She particularly enjoys advising clients and finding innovative solutions to publications challenges.
