Bio: Elvira D'souza has over 10 years of experience in the medical communications industry. Elvira has a very good understanding of the logistics of global outsourcing of medical writing services and works extensively with key decision makers within pharmaceutical/device companies globally to develop long-term relationships and provide solutions for assistance with multiple types of projects including publication planning, graphics support, regulatory writing, and marketing support documentation across a range of therapeutic areas. During her tenure at CACTUS, Elvira has also gained expertise in interacting with individual authors/researchers from all over the globe, especially in the Asia-Pacific region. Elvira helped conduct the first BELS exam in India and has also proctored subsequent BELS exams in the country. She has a Bachelor's degree in life sciences from the University of Mumbai and a master's in business administration from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai, India. She also has an ELS certification from the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences and is a certified medical publication professional.

Her past experience includes having worked as the General Manager, McCann Healthcare, Singapore; General Manager, Atlantis Healthcare, Singapore; Account Director, InVivo Communications, Singapore; and Product Manager, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Australia.

Jovelle Fernandez

Bio: Jovelle graduated from BS Biology and Doctor of Medicine (Saint Louis University, Philippines) and is an Obstetrician Gynecologist with specialty in Reproductive Endocrinology, Infertility and Gynecologic Oncology. She obtained Doctor of Philosophy major in Surgical Sciences and did post-doctoral studies in the field of Molecular Biology and Oncology (Kobe University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan). She also obtained various business certifications and executive education programs from Harvard School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business, INSEAD, Rotterdam School of Management and Oxford Said Business School. She was awarded the best poster presentation by the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1999, and in 2005, obtained the best oral presenter award and Young Gynecologist Award from the Asia Oceania Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has published over 30 studies in peer-reviewed journals and has made over 100 oral presentations/chaired scientific sessions in Asia Pacific including Japan, Europe and US. She has worked for more than 12 years in the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to joining Takeda Pharmaceuticals in November 2015, she worked at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) of increasing leadership in various territories. In Takeda, she heads the Japan Medical Affairs organization involving physicians, allied health care providers and those with advanced science degrees and her team is responsible for scientific exchange and evidence generation.
