Bio: Caroline has worked in medical publications for the past 16 years, and is currently working for Adis, Springer Healthcare (part of Springer Nature) as the Adis Publishing Manager, based in Chester, UK. Her role involves speaking to pharmaceutical and medical communications professionals and identifying suitable Adis journal targets for specific research and reviews. Due to Adis's promise to find a home for all scientifically sound research, Caroline takes details of each manuscript to the editors of Adis' 35 medical journals, and gains their expert presubmission feedback to ensure that authors can submit to the Adis journal most likely to welcome their work - speeding up the publication process by hopefully minimising the chances of rejection. In her previous roles at Springer Healthcare, Caroline has been involved in the launch and development of the Adis Rapid+ journals such as Diabetes Therapy and Dermatology and Therapy. Caroline started her career in medical communications by joining GCC (now part of Ashfield Healthcare Communications) as an Editorial Assistant for several of their key accounts. She then joined Prime Medica (now Prime Global), providing editorial support for their main publication planning account. Caroline made the move into the STM publishing world of Springer in 2007.

Bio: Susan Hasmall is a freelance medical writer and communications specialist with a strong scientific background and 15 years' experience in medical communications. Susan has a degree in Biological Sciences and after a year of post-graduate research was awarded an MSc for her thesis. She became a research scientist at Zeneca (formerly ICI), where her research interests included cancer biology, cell signalling, hepatic biochemistry and endocrine function. Susan has authored many research articles and meeting abstracts. Susan took her first step toward becoming a medical communications professional in 2001, when she joined Gardiner-Caldwell Communications as a medical writer. She developed within the Gardiner-Caldwell Communications and GeoMed agencies to become VP, Medical and Scientific Services at GeoMed. A position she held for five years. She is also mid way through her masters in Behavioural Change and is the senior author on a peer reviewed manuscript which was published in the BMJ in 2016 in relation to patient centricity.

Bio: Since graduating with a Bachelor Science (hons) degree in Pharmacology Kay has spent the past 32 years in various roles in the pharmaceutical industry sector. Bio: Paul conducted his Doctoral research into the physiological roles of nitric oxide at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. After serving on the faculty at Weill, Paul worked as a freelance consultant specializing in start-up grants for biotechnology companies, before transitioning full-time to medical publications. He has been a publications professional for over 10 years and has worked on programs spanning all stages of drug development in a variety of therapeutic areas. Until recently, Paul was responsible for Digital and Social Media strategy at Envision Pharma Group, but has now moved on to run publication programs for various rare diseases at Biomarin. The shift from print to web-based publications has been an area of interest since Paul authored a review in one of the first online journals (Science:STKE) in 2001. Much has changed since then, with journals and congresses now offering a plethora of enhancements and the rise of social media as a channel for information dissemination. These additions not only change the way in which medical information is consumed, but also the methods we use to assess the impact of a publication.
